The Power of Elections
Just two weeks from now, the people will flex their collective muscle and elect not only a new Chief Executive, but every House seat, almost every state legislator, a critical mass of Senators and a third of Governors to boot.
Rather than fall prey to the constant quarterbacking about it all, we’ve put our energies into having the Summit of the century. We will chart a course with the best of education innovators, thought leaders, pundits, politicos and parents, and yes even athletes all in one room, two days after election day.
It is the STOP for Education Summit: The Power of Innovation, and it’s a powerful opportunity to find common ground and knit together a cohort strategy to drive fundamental policy changes in freedom and fair funding for the next generation of lawmakers who will take their seats in 2025.
Just two days after what could be the closest election in US history, leaders at all levels of politics and policy will converge:
Forbes’ Randall Lane will provide insights into how to influence the public;
Strategist Kellyanne Conway will give us an insider post-election analysis;
US Senator Bill Cassidy and Congressman Byron Donalds will speak to how advocates should approach the 119th Congress;
Lawmakers like former Governors Doug Ducey and Jane Swift, State Senators Anthony Hardy Williams and Patricia Rucker and former DC Council Member Kevin Chavous will tell us what it takes to achieve education freedom and full & fair funding at every level.
In addition, a wide range of innovators, providers, athletes and advocates will discuss education and its pivotal role in workforce development, career readiness, technology and national security.
The Power of a Pitch
I just have to tell you, that last week was yet another blessed week in time that I was proud and honored to be involved in the movement for education opportunity. While many people share those sentiments, and have different ways of getting there, ours has been about stimulating, supporting, rewarding and expanding the supply of great educators who STOP for Education, and advocating relentlessly for policies that make it possible for great education to happen.
If you are looking truly to be motivated, captivated and inspired, you need to meet this Yass Class of 2024, who are now the new STOP for Education Alumni, who came together for the annual business accelerator. Talk about Power! And You Can Meet Them All This November 7th!
The Power of Love (cue Huey Lewis…)
It don’t take money, it don't take fame
Don't need no credit card to ride this train
GSV Founder, CER Board Chair and long time friend, Michael Moe says that, in addition to all the great stuff that has to happen to accelerate progress toward a great future for all students, we can’t forget the power of love. That of course triggered this once Huey Lewis fan girl to look up his old song, and the reality is, it really does fit the subject.
It doesn’t take money to step out of your comfort zone and forcefully advocate that every child have access to great education or to give parents the freedom to direct where they are educated;
It doesn’t take fame to want what’s best for others. It is a fight though, and to win you have to be strong, and maybe not cruel, but let’s just say willing to take the worst of it all.
It’s a life saving cause - education. It’s an imperative that strengthens people and fortifies nations.
Join me and the CER and the STOP for Education teams in making it a reality, this time, for everyone. Here is a link to info about the Summit as well as the agenda and how to register. Let’s catch up on the 7th!
See you there? - Jeanne
